You see, this is no ordinary Compton Garage, this building was extended in blockwork, spar rendered and in part uses more traditional roofing practices. Last week we wrote about Jo-Ann Brockie and neighbour in Warrington and now this week these three garage units arrive on my desk.

Peter Whickman sought out #comptonspares and as he explained he would prefer to place his business locally. Following a visit to our warehousing where he was introduced to our product, its designs and unique features only found on a Compton Spares building a site visit was arranged. We expected to unearth a barn find when we heard that the door on this garage had been jammed shut for some time. No such luck but we did save Mrs. Gilberthorpe the cost of a replacement door once we identified that the fault lay with a collapsing front lintel. In conjunction with a replacement garage roof (including the licensed disposal of the asbestos) we set about exchange the concrete support for a substantial timber over clad in PVC. A Case Study – Adams, Plymouth, Devon

Mr. Adams contacted @comptonspares back in January. At the time he was undecided whether to repair or replace his current garage.

Here he uploaded photographs of his current building adding that the building was a Compton Spar Apex 10ft0in wide x 22ft2in long.
We recognised the building instantly and we knew exactly what lengths of roof sheet were required, fastening method and amount of foam/eaves filler.
Since this was a Compton Building (Compton Spar Apex to be precise!) we had the opportunity to modify the existing roofing supports in order to allow the roof to sit and be fastening to the longer side of the roof purlins and our metal to metal tek screws securely pinned the roof down. Indeed we use far more fixings than the original.
During construction we added our own unique design of foam filler which is vented to allow airflow and the roof was finished with matching steel barge boards.
