Spotlight on Garage Revamps

Spotlight on Garage Revamps Next week we have some really interesting garage revamps, beginning in Cambridgeshire where we have had delivered a huge 14ft wide garage door fully-finished in Traffic Grey. Over in Ellesmere Port a set of black coloured fascias are to accompany a re-roof of a pent garage. Later in the week we’re near Newquay to fit another garage door, PVC fascias, windows and roof and as a final roundabout we’re in York and Sheffield on Friday. You can guarantee that we’re going to have some raving reviews and great photos to follow. With such high order values

Looking For A Builder? Don’t Trust….The Cowboys

Looking For A Builder? Don’t Trust….The Cowboys WARNING, WARNING rant time. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands during these bleak darker months but when I read the rivals boasting, “10, 25yrs guarantees” and “15, 25yrs experience” from fledging companies with barely 1yrs trading under their belt I become enraged. The internet is a marvellous consumer tool and it won’t take too long to pull up some horrific reviews and examples of customer neglect or lack of reviews thereof Delve deeper, are you just dealing with a sole trader or is the registered a office simply a private

We’ve long warned of the disastrous results of bitumen based roofing

We’ve long warned of the disastrous results of bitumen based roofing We’ve long warned of the disastrous results of bitumen based roofing and this building in South West London is no exception. Such roofing systems are wholly unsuitable for the prefab market as the weakness in the sheet must be compensated by boarding out the entire roof and sectional garages were never intended to support this kind of weight. As you can see the new roof and fascias fit like a glove and the roofing sheets are single length so there’s little chance of leaking. Both roof and fascias have

We can provide a roof in any colour of the rainbow

We can provide a roof in any colour of the rainbow @comptonspares we can provide a roof in any colour of the rainbow. But most of us prefer to be shepherded into making a decision so we have chosen four of the most popular colours and provide three more as an option. Roofing colours are an individual choice but having stared a light-grey roof (probably gone a bit darker by now) for all those years you’re not going to refuse Goosewing Grey at a substantial discount are you? Perhaps you have a Compton Banbury garage? The older versions were supplied

VW campervans, thieves and extra-height buildings

VW campervans, thieves and extra-height buildings We think that someone tried to steal our VW T6 last night. The campervan is parked under security cameras and lights, it has a modern alarm and a tracker but none of this seems to deter the villain. Keys were the goal and thankfully they failed to make it into our home. So what next? Well, traditional garages are way too low to accommodate such a tall vehicle but specify a 7ft6in to eaves garage and the height of the door will be raised proportionately providing 7ft1in under-door clearance which might be enough to

Compton Spares.com stock items

Compton Spares.com stock itemsCompton Spares.com has been trading since 2009. Initially our stock was derived from the liquidated stores at Compton Buildings which included concrete garage panels, fascias, springs, locks and much much more. As the stock dwindled we began to track down many of the original suppliers to Compton Buildings but where this wasn’t possible we began to commission the manufacture of components ourselves. These days we make PVC fascias, concrete garage (spar) pebbledash panels, lining clips, gutter brackets and straps and garage roof conversion brackets. Where there’s enough demand we will put our designs to a skilled set

Will we be retaining the existing steelwork and fixings on a Compton Garage?

Will we be retaining the existing steelwork and fixings on a Compton Garage? In a nutshell NO. The original Compton Building will consist of concrete fibre possibly with traces of asbestos roofing, steel A-frames and purlins. The purlins in their current form are designed to accept hook type fixings but in the time honoured designs of Compton Buildings we will converting these purlins to accept steel roofing and utilising 21st Century tek screws. Our roofs are also fastened down at a good many points than the original ensuring a secure and trouble free roof for decades to come.

I have lost cars in the past but I am determined not to lose this one.

I have lost cars in the past but I am determined not to lose this one. In the pursuit of more civilised weekends we’ve just taken delivery of this Volkswagen T6 campervan. The overall specification is high as our van has a pop-top, swivelling front seats, crashed tested rock and roll bed and plenty of external bling. Despite having 20in allow wheel the van rides at factory height which we reckon is just over 6ft6in. On Monday we’re having an alarm and tracker fitted but in the long term off-road parking is more desirable. LidgetCompton provide extra-high garages which provide
